How to Create a Local Academy FootThe Academy model is meant to be an exchange of ongoing taking and giving among practitioners interested in participating in a process aiming at raising the quality of the use of the Feldenkrais Method within a developing professional field. Following is a recipe for implementing your new LAF/T (see example, below): Step 1. Form the group
Step 2. Begin Meet and discuss the logistics for maintaining your LAF/T (where to meet, when, how often, etc.?) Consider whether you will develop your own workshops (step 3) or use an Academy Workshop. Step 3. Develop your own Workshop
Remember Moshé Feldenkrais developed the AY lessons by giving the lesson, recording it, checking the lesson, reflecting it and again giving the lesson etc. That is meant by "evaluation" – it is an ongoing process of furthering the understanding and application of the work we do. Discover the advantage of, and be willing to network with other Feet/Teams, especially with those having a similar interest in your topic. Of course interest and expertise in Feldenkrais in your topicis only one example to run the process of a LAF. Perhaps your interest is more focused at organising or facilitating particular workshops for practitioners and evaluate them as described? Go ahead, find some colleagues willing to teamwork and engage in the IFF Academy model . Or you are already a group of colleagues with a particular issue you want to develop and share. Whatever it may be: check the role description of the LAF, make up your mind and then contact us. An ExampleImagine you are working in a kindergarden giving ATM and FI lessons to small children, their teachers and perhaps some of their parents. By chance you meet (or have already met) some Feldenkrais colleagues within your local area, also working as practitioners in a kindergarden. All of you become interested to share your experiences, to further your work, perhaps present it to others in and outside the Feldenkrais world. You start (or have already started) to form a group of practitioners working in kindergardens. Of course you can do this as a private activity of colleagues. Practitioners looking to find others interested in their idea(s) may use the 'meeting place' area.
