As a member of a Local Academy Foot or Local Academy Team, you will be able to create your own Workshop descriptions, Announcements and Evaluations
Before you can begin
You will need to be a member of a Local Academy Foot/Team. This will ensure you have the access you need, to do want you want.
- you can be invited electronically by an existing member (members see right menu 'invite a friend') We can only use this option if we also allow all registered users to automatically request group membership--they come together. What do you think?
- webservices can assign you to the group(s)
Each group will assign/be assigned one 'administrator' for that purpose, if you have been designated as administator...Read on.
Then next time you log on, and go to 'my account and groups', the group(s) that you belong to will be listed there. Select the one you wish to work with (example Air or PRISMA) and on the right lower menu there will be options for creating specific kinds of content. Let's use evaluations as an example:
Let's begin:
On the lower right menu, select create evaluation
If you are creating a workshop evaluation, description or announcement there are a number of fields for you to attend to. Members will only be allowed to create and edit material for the LAF/T or Group to which they belong.
Authoring Information and Options can stay as they are
User Comments - tick Read/Write if you would like to allow other registered users of the site (practitioners) to comment on your page
Title: Please add your workshop title.
Language: This one is important! Make sure the correct language is selected. If workshops are in more than one language you will need to create a descpription/evaluation for each language using "translation" at the bottom of the page of the first language you submit.
Template: Select "Academy."
Hand/Theme: This is optional. If your content relates to one of these themes, you may select it.
Academy Workshop: This is a scroll down menu and will give you all the possible workshop formats to choose from. Please look through the whole list. If the workshop for which you are posting an evaluation is not on this list, choose "unknown" and email the Academy coordinator to request that a new workshop format be added to this list.
Location: that's easy.
Here's the technical part
Body: There are a few ways you can enter your information into the body portion.
If you choose to type directly into this box provided, there are a few, limited styles available for use. The Bold, Italics, Underline and Bullet functions are useable. At the moment the table option is not useable. The 'scroll down' menu that appears above the box gives you two options at the moment: Paragraph and Heading. Paragraph is standard text size and colour, Heading gives you a red, slightly larger text. At the moment, if you want to apply a Heading style, you need to separate that portion from the rest of your text by pressing 'return'
Non-administrators have a simpler interface. Verify that this is appropriate.
For more options in formatting, you can create your document in Word (or an equivalent word processing software). **Save the document as HTML** and all of your formatting will remain in tact. Copy the text from your newly created HTML document, return to the IFF page and select HTML in the body tool bar. You will be presented with another box, paste your document there, press Update and you're nearly there!
Who will see this page?
The last detail is to tick off the appropriate group (under the heading 'Audience'). Select the group that creates the evaluation, not necessarily the group that originally created the workshop. So if you are in LAF Auckland and are evaluating PRISMA Blue, you have already selected "PRISMA Blue" above as a workshop format. Here all you need to select is "LAF Auckland" and not PRISMA. (If you create the evaluation from your group's home page, this will already be selected.) If you would like the evaluation to be private to your LAF/T, un-check the "Public" box.
Once you are satisfied with your work, you can press Submit at the bottom of the page. You may want to make note of the 'node' number that appears at the top of the screen.
