Dear Members of the World-Wide Feldenkrais Community,

Ten years ago when I first began editing the lessons, a relatively few people in the community were aware of the riches Dr. Feldenkrais left for future generations of Feldenkrais® practitioners. The initial Alexander Yanai volumes were met with complaints about the difficulty of the lessons and the complexity of Dr. Feldenkrais' language. Slowly, slowly those complaints settled as people became accustomed to how specifically Dr. Feldenkrais used language to describe his aims and intention. Then, as more and more practitioners used the lessons, an appreciation for Dr. Feldenkrais' legacy blossomed. This flowering continues with eleven published volumes serving as a foundation for the curriculum of many trainings and/or the continuing education of many practitioners.

What do you want in your titles?

I'd like to start a discussion of what a title of a lesson should indicate. Is it a description of what happens, of the movements? If so, which movements? Or does it describe a function the lesson might be addressing: bending, turning, sitting, standing, etc.? Another possibility is the position the lesson is done in.

Review of notes from last meeting

Agenda for today:

1. Determining that the Committee wants a private area for notes, etc.

2. What is the Academy for?

3. Differentiate the academy from the website.

What is the Academy?

Suggested PROCESS: Several rounds of Brainstorming on the meaning of the word Academy? Expectation when we hear about it? do we want another word?

Our wishes of the Academy:
