Assembly 2004: Report from workshops in Germany and America
Submitted by Rob Black on .
Competency Workshops were run in Hamburg, Stutgaard and in San Francisco. These workshops were very special in their intent, desing, membership and outcomes. The workshops were three days in duration, requiring substantial time and intellectual commitment on the part of those who participated. The purpose was for the participants to generate competency statements based on their reading, thinking and discussion about "events" that other practioners had described. Each workshop had a process with strong integrity. Each part of the workshop was pre-planned and then reviewed after the workshop (summarized in the report from each workshop). Then any changes or questions fed into the design of the next workshop. Originally, four workshops were planned, two in German, and two in English. The first two workshops were in German. Extensive reports were writen and translated into English (See below). Then the first English-language workshop was run in San Francisco. Again, an extensive Report was written. After the first English language workshop, the team realized that no further new information was generated that had not been created in the earlier workshops, and so the team moved into the next phase of the project.
