The DC is located in Portland, Oregon USA. The International Feldenkrais Federation, appoints a volunteer Board of Directors to oversee the business. The DC Board, in turn, hires the Operations Manager to run the office, hire and supervise staff, and manage the day-to-day runnings of the business and online shop.
The DC Board sets policy and direction, coordinates and sets priorities for the production of new products, responds to the requests of the IFF, discusses projects with the copyright holders and volunteers involved in development projects, and ensures the fair distribution of materials for sale while maintaining a viable business structure.
Board members often live significant distances apart, across international borders. Meetings are held regularly via video conference. The Board meets face-to-face on occasion.
The Board takes on a variety of responsibilities. They initiate or delegate the many tasks needed to bring the project to completion. Tasks are completed by Board members, volunteers, and staff. Technical specialists are hired for certain phases of production as needed. By the time a product becomes available for sale, hundreds of volunteer hours have gone into it.
